amanda & ryan :: engagement session in hendersonville, nc

“Anyone can be passionate, but it takes real lovers to be silly.” – Rose Franken

I believe whole heartedly in this quote; it’s one my faves. It’s also exactly the first thing I thought of when I watched Amanda and Ryan together. It didn’t matter if I would have been there or not – they are completely comfortable with being silly with each other and I could tell they are like this all the time. Plus it doesn’t hurt that they are one ridiculous good looking couple. At times, they had me rolling. Between Ryan sneaking in “Zoolander Blue Steel” faces in shots and Amanda big laughs, they were infectious. They made me feel good. And oh so happy because they were happy.

Amanda and Ryan, I really hope you love these images as much as I do. Thank you so much for letting me in and being comfortable enough in your relationship to let my camera (and me) know the real and amazing soon to be Mr. & Mrs. Chastain. I am so excited to be a part of your wedding day. Just ignore the girl in back with the camera who is bawling her eyes out, k?

Here are a handful of my favorites.

One of my most favorite shots I have ever took.

Ryan is AWESOME at the leg kick!:)

What a “beautiful” couple, and the photos are absolutely “stunning!” Very talented Photographer.

amanda & cody :: engagement session in greenville & clemson, sc

We took Greenville by storm… literally.

The weather all over the state on Saturday was yucky! The whole week leading up to our shoot, I stalked weather.com, and by Thursday, South Carolina was completely covered by raindrop and lightning bolt cartoons. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that this is not ideal weather conditions for a shoot, so I started brainstorming how to make the best of a situation we couldn’t control. Since rescheduling was out of the option due to our appointment at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, SC and our busy schedules, Amanda & Cody prepared themselves for the cold and wetness, a absolutely ROCKED this rainy day shoot like pros. Below are a some of my favorites!

Could you look this comfortable in the rain, in traffic, with honking cars? Me either.

I LOVED Amanda’s choice of props!

The skies started to clear up once we headed to Clemson. Amanda and Cody are big Clemson fans, so it only made since that we shoot in Memorial Stadium!

Shooting Memorial Stadium was amazing, but definitely was a work out! We ran all over the stadium, shooting from different perspectives and wrapping up our shoot towards the top, when we stumbled upon this little event going on down on the field below us. We couldn’t hear anything, but actions speak louder than words!:)

i heart faces photo challenge :: by the book

I’ve been a member of the I Heart Faces Community for about a year now, but I haven’t taken advantage of their weekly themed photo challenges or participated in message boards. Partly because I forget to enter a photo on Monday or Tuesday, but mostly it’s the fear that my work isn’t good enough.  When I received the email with the theme, “In the Books”, this picture immediately came to mind. I love digging through my external hard drive to find past treasures like this one. I’m excited about rereleasing this gem to the world, and introducing this to the I Heart Face Community for the first time.

Wanna participate? You don’t have to be a professional – amateurs and point & shoots are very welcome! Enter your Face + Books photo at I Heart Faces or sign up to receive weekly emails to be notified of new themes every week.

out with the old; in with the new.

The New Year brings new beginnings – a chance to start over or reinvent one’s self, and I’m doing a little of both. Months of being homeless and expressionless beyond Facebook finally ends today.

Isn’t she lovely? I am one proud momma. A lot of late night hours that cut into my sleep time have been spent on this baby. And here she is.

2011 was hectic and crazy and meaningful, all rolled into one giant ball of amazingness by God Himself. That’s the best way I know how to describe it, and man, does He have quite a sense of humor! After 12 weddings, 30 something shoots, and countless hours brainstorming and all-nighter editing sessions, I learned a lot – not only about me and my business, but also about people in general. 2011 graced me with amazing clients who became wonderful friends and supporters of my passion. I am truly blessed to look back on all of my shoots and events, and not regret a single one. The long hours and busy weekends and the occasional stiff shutter finger were completely worth every second I was able to do what I love and live out this dream alongside some kickass friends.

From here, the view of 2012 looks amazing. I’ve already surpassed the number of booked weddings in 2011, and am looking forward to each and every one. I also have some pretty sweet collaboration projects with other NC/SC photographers in the works, as well as some workshops to learn from some of the best and most influential in the business. Most importantly, I’m anxious to share all of these exciting events with you through this blog and Facebook, and let you watch me grow as a better photographer, woman, and friend.

I cannot thank you enough; no matter if you’ve been with me since day one or you’re finding me for the first time. To everyone: I hope you have a very happy, prosperous, and blessed 2012.
